Brief Explanation of Ole Ole Bali

  • History of the restaurantWe went the restaurant named Ole Ole Bali, The name means cheer bali or gift from bali, the restaurant provide Indonesia food. The first Ole Ole Bali restaurant was opened in 2004 which is called Bumbu Bali. Ole Ole Bali first opened in Sunway Pyramid on 2010.

  • Atmosphere and decoration analysis including equipment, furniture, flatware (crockery & cutlery) materials :  When you visit to ole ole Bali restaurant, the feel was like Indonesian traditional culture and so cosy. Mostly the material such as the base of plate, tables, chairs. Nature material are applied as plates for example rattan and banana leafs. The materials that they used are what a typical traditional Indonesian would use.

  • Target marketFrom the menu and food, the main market for the restaurant is for those who like Indonesian food services, most of the food that they serve is a famous Indonesian cuisine but mostly balinese cuisine, the taste of the food is very authentic taste of Indonesia, from the decoration of the restaurant can also be seen, the restaurant revealed a very distinct Indonesian style, so if you are from Indonesia or you are fond of the Indonesian food, don’t miss this restaurant. Even though their main target market is Indonesian, Ole Ole Bali also prepare a wide option of foods for people who are not fond of Indonesian cuisine, like pasta, steak, and burger.
  • Restaurant LayoutThe layout of the restaurant is neat but not too rigid at the same time. The restaurant provide a lot of chairs and tables for guest to sit so it looks full but still have enough space for the guests and waitress to walk. The restaurant has a unique design with cultural theme. Because the restaurant is a Balinese restaurant it is decorated with unique furniture that you usually found in Bali. It has a dimmed lighting, that makes the customer feel calm and relaxed.
  • Restaurant Staffs : When we walked into this restaurant , not a waiter came up to meet us , so my friend and I stood in the dining room at a loss. After about 5 minutes of us just standing in the middle of the restaurant, a waiter attend us and sit us and serve us. After we finished ordering waited 30 minutes before the food to our table . However, one of the food that was ordered was not noted down so one of our group member need to for quite some time for his food to arrive, yes, they made a mistake. They also made a mistake by noting down a wrong food that one of our group member order. From the experience that we experienced, the service of the restaurant is not good, it makes us feel unwanted and uncomfortable in the restaurant.
  • Restaurant capacityThe restaurant is quite big and it has a lot of chairs and tables, they also offer an outdoor smoking area in the restaurant. So approximately the restaurant could fit 150 customers.

  • Menu analysisOn the menu, the name of dishes and the description of the dishes are sorted properly and they use two languages which are English and Bahasa Indonesia so that people who do not understand Bahasa can read the English name and people who do not understand English can read the Bahasa names. They inserted images that described Bali which is the theme of the restaurant. We could also find a lot of images of the foods on the menu so it is easier for the customer to order the food and the way they sort out the foods and beverages list are quite unique because the beverages list is located on the first page of the menu. There a lot of varieties of foods and beverages that we could find on the menu. They offer Western foods like pasta, steak, burger, fish and chips and etc. We also could find Indonesian foods like soto ayam, sop buntut, nasi campur, and many more. Eventhough they serve many types of food, they mainly focus on Balinese foods. To be honest, the prices for the foods and beverages are quite expensive but then the portion for the foods are quite big for 1 people. 
  • Other products: It is worth mentioning that this restaurant offers grilled chicken and chicken strips that could top off other restaurants, we think that it has more flavour than any other food that they offered or even other grilled chicken in other restaurant. Their unique flavor , matched with a single restaurant special sauce to making their food unique and distinctive.

  • Advantages
We believe that this restaurant has many advantages, such as : restaurant style, they offer unique food and also a unique design of the restaurant that make the restaurant look exotic. Of course, it is particularly worth mentioning is the restaurant combines many Indonesian local style, this shows us that the culture is from Indonesia, the food that they offer also Indonesian food that could promote the ethnic food of Indonesia. In addition, the costume that the waitress use are unique Balinese batik that could help to promote the tradition of Indonesian. Out of all the advantages that the restaurant bring, we think the biggest advantage is it can attract tourists from other country to come to Indonesia and learn about Indonesian culture and tradition. 


  • Disadvantages
Compared to its advantages, it also has many disadvantages . For example : service, the professionalism of the staff was really bad, when we entered the restaurant from the beginning, the service of this restaurant is not so good, no one stepped forward to ask you for information or greet you, there was an error during ordering that caused the food that came and the food that was ordered did not match, and when guests were drinking water, it was finished but none of the waiter took the initiative to fill the glass again. After we finished the meal none of the waitress come to say a farewell and smile to us which make us feel unhappy throughout the meal. Other disadvantages of the restaurant are the portion of the foods are too big for one person which caused the price become expensive. The location of the restaurant is also hard to be found from the inside of the shopping mall.

How to Solve the Problem

Most of the problems in Ole Ole Bali that we faced are involving the service and professionalism  of the staff. One of the way to solve this problem is to train the staff well. They could be sent for trainings outside the restaurant that could improve their performance in the restaurant. The restaurant should give out the feedback form to the customers, so the owner of the restaurant knows the performance of the staffs.The price of the food is quite expensive because they serve a huge amount of food for example, for the chicken they serve half of chicken with rice, and also for the appetiser they serve with ketupat which could be considered a meal for some people. We think that by cutting down the portion of the food, they could sell the same food with cheaper price.
